The Minister of Health Inaugurating the First National Ophthalmology Museum at SBMU Labbafi Nejad Hospital

The first National Ophthalmology Museum was inaugurated by the presence of Professors Hashemi, the Minister of Health, Peyvandi, the SBMU Chancellor, and Einollahi, the Director of National Ophthalmology Center for Excellence, as well as the attendance of academic staff members and officials of the SBMI Labbafi Nejad Hospital.
Professor Hashemi, the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education who had himself been one of the graduates of the same hospital in ophthalmology, explained the condition of ophthalmology in Iran as “highly excellent”, and said: “Ophthalmology in Iran is in an excellent situation, and fortunately in these years, the field has undergone numerous evolutions resulting in the presence of many skillful ophthalmologists rendering their services in various places nationwide.
He further added: “Fortunately, ophthalmology in Iran is quite modern and up-to-date, so that in rendering treatment and surgical services our country is quite in line with the important nations in the field.
It is worthy of mentioning that the first National Ophthalmology Museum which has been established by the SBMU Ophthalmology Center of Excellence, introduces the latest achievements in ophthalmology along with introducing the SBMU Labbafi Nejad Hospital and the academic staff and founders of ophthalmology in Iran.
In the museum, which possesses various sections, such as the e-training center, the audio-visual section, etc. there are also two separate traditional and modern ophthalmology sections, the ophthalmology instrumentation section, the publications unit, articles, photos, books and textbooks, etc. the first slit lamp, ophthalmology surgical instruments, and clinical tools dating back from 1981, as well as ophthalmology training software, and public educational pamphlets are displayed as well.
